Making consolidation a complimentary service or discounted rate

My packages usually contain small items, and consolidation fee at Blackship is rather high, especially when it is just stacking a couple of books or discs together it will cost at least ¥900 for a minimal effort. I had to buy from different merchants due to item availability, and even for the same merchant they may choose to send out items whenever stock is available, hence forcing one order splitting into at least 2 packages. In the end, I would rather ship out package individually because consolidation doesn't help in much savings due to this fee.
Looking at other forwarding services around the world, I notice that consolidation fee is usually offered as a complimentary service (see attached image table list), as such fee is placed under repacking. Even competitor in Japan started introducing free consolidation starting from December 2022.
Hence I would like to request Blackship review and make appropriate revisions according to the market. Even if there may be a challenge to offer at no cost all of a sudden, there should be room for looking into waiver for small items (considering the fact that there is nothing much to do except just putting items together), and discounted rate for fragile and bulkier items where repacking needs more care and attention.

I would like to add my voice to this, I just experienced consolidating items and seeing the amount of consolidation fees made me feel a bit bad and made me regret purchasing things like a magazine or little figures/accessories. This really changed the estimate I had in mind and left a sour taste... I do understand why this fee is here, but making it a bit less striking for the customer would be really great ^^

Thank you so much for your suggestion and for collecting information from other businesses. We really appreciate it. Our current pricing model is designed to provide better quality service, ensuring package is packed safely and doesn't break or damage during shipping. This means it's not just about stacking items together; our staff carefully evaluates the best way to pack your items.
However, we will evaluate your suggestion to see if there's any way to enhance this experience and our pricing.

Chloe BergqvistBased on my current experience, I feel that this cost is relatively worth it. However, the fees are indeed higher compared to other places. Perhaps you could consider waiving the consolidation fees for the first three (or five) packages, and continue charging fees for the rest packages.

Thank you for the great suggestion. We’re having discussions around providing more consolidation discount for a reward member or in some other way like you proposed. Currently, we are very tight with capacity and must manage resources wisely without compromising our service quality. We might not be able to give incentives for consolidation soon, but we’re trying very hard to find room for it. 😃 Thank you for understanding.

Maybe something based on the weight of the items similar to how storeage fees are priced currently could be done? Small items generally are cheaper and easier to repack, needing less protection and smaller boxes to send, the consolidation fee in this case can represent a big part of the value of the item, making it unattractive (to consolidate a 300Y keychain with a 700Y manga the consolidation price would be around 930Y, for example, which represents 93% of the items value); while big and heavier products need more protection, bigger boxes and more time to repack, making a higher fee more understandable in this case.
