Consolidation : Add "return incompatible / excess packages to mailbox" option / automatic feature (with notification and reason)
Hi ! I have recently gone through a case of consolidating many packages together, only for the final product to no longer be eligible for the shipping method I had selected. Which means that workers spent a lot of time consolidating a package for nothing, as I now have to split it to make it shippable again. This will take additional time for your workers, and add considerably to my fees. So, I would really to have an option like "Send back incompatible / excess packages back to my mailbox for later shipping". Ideally, this would be an automatic feature, but I guess you could make it optional with a small fee. Generally speaking, I am always trying to add a maximum number of items to a single shipping, because it is a costly process, but it is difficult to measure beforehand how much space a package's contents is going to take up, especially since each seller adds wrapping and packaging around the items. So having an option to just put packages, or parts of packages, back into the mailbox would be great. Workers would take into consideration the shipping method and the shipping destination selected, and send the excess / ineligible packages back to the user's mailbox. The user would then be notified immediately with a notification / email and an explanation, for example : "Your package BXXXXXX (nickname) could not be added for consolidation and was returned to your mailbox for the following reason(s) : 'Maximum weight exceeded'; 'Cannot send food items with this shipping method".
