Agreed, I understand the business decision is partially to assist the US customers in avoiding import tariffs but that's entirely the point of tariffs being imposed in the first place. I disagree with the reasoning of reducing overseas transaction fees - I personally shop online and internationally regularly so I did my research to find cards which convert at a competitive rate and with no international fees.
I believe Blackship overstepped here by making a decision framed as "best for customer" when it feels a little condescending and also only serves to alienate customers outside of the US. One of the reasons why I chose Blackship in the first place was the ability to pay in JPY which is not offered by many of the main competitors. I used to have a subscription (cancelled only due to reduced shipping volumes) and I used to regularly recommend Blackship to friends in my country but I will no longer be referring anyone to Blackship until the billing options change. I would also urge management to reconsider the dependency on the US customer base and look a little more long term should "exporting" to the US become more difficult and prohibitive for both sender and receiver.
